Galaxy Express 999 is the name of a train which travels through space, beginning at Megalopolis Station on one end of the galaxy and terminating at Andromeda on the other. The mysterious Maetel returns to Earth to find her former travelling companion Tetsuro imprisoned. After a close call, they return to outer space, where new faces and old--Shadow, the Space Grenadiers, Captain Harlock--await on the planets in their path, and where the 999 seems to have developed a new spirit, a spirit named "Kanon".
